M.A.C Shop MAC, Cook MAC Collection in Singapore

Shop MAC, Cook MAC is finally here after it first launched in US 3 weeks ago!

I have been eyeing this collection since 1st January this year, because I find the colours really pretty and suitable for equatorial climate, with no snow, no falling leaves... ... The colours are very neutral ones that I feel everyone can wear, especially if you compares these to winter collections, the winter collections (from any brand) can be quite ridiculous here in Singapore.

I remember, my last collection from M.A.C was the Spring 2010. After that, I just lost track of M.A.C.

So here it is! The Shop MAC, Cook MAC Collection!

Big red box with "960g" on the top corner is the packaging, besides this, the larger pink square boxes are the eyeshadow quads, below it, the coral colour square boxes contain the cremeblend blushes, on top, the long pink box is for the Kissable Lipcolour, and the yellow one is for the lipstick. I also got the travel-size 12 blush brush.

I do like the package design for this collection, but I wish they would print this design on the actual product too, like what they did with M.A.C Liberty of London, because those were gorgeous.

It's quite sad that when you remove all the sleeves, you only find black standard boxes inside.

From left, clockwise, M.A.C travel-size 129 blush brush, Shop & Drop eye quad, Call Me Bubbles eye quad, Optimistic Orange cream blush, Florida cream blush, Dish It Up Lustre Lipstick, and So Vain Kissable Lipcolour.

These are the swatches for the lip and cheek colours. I have blended out the creme blushes at the sides, and left a full dose of colour in the middle, so you can see the colours.

From top left, clockwise, Florida, Optimistic Orange, So Vain, and Dish It Up.

I bought the So Vain Lipcolour because it looks too much like Chanel Le Vernis in June from the Spring Collection, and I thought it'd be nice if one could have June on the nails, and the same colour on the lips. haha. Somehow Spring colours are all so similar.

The lipstick from Shop MAC, Cook MAC, in a similar coral shade, is a tad more pink than So Vain, which makes it a lot less similar to Chanel Le Vernis in June.

From Shop & Drop quad, from bottom, is the lightest colour.

I really can't see much of the pink from Shop & Drop no matter how I tried to pile on. And strangely, the deep blue looks black.

From bottom, is the lightest shade in Call Me Bubbles.

This is a really, really, really pretty palette, in my opinion, and it so reminds me of the wear-ability that I got with Chanel's Spring Collection. The colour payoff from every one of the colour is good too, because what you can see in my swatch was easy to achieve.

It's pretty much a matte palette, other than the last bronze colour with more sheen.

That's all I've got from the collection!

But I made an amazing discovery when I looked through my stash... ... Found a lot way too similar colours lying around, maybe because I tend to always choose the same shades.

The bubblegum pink at the right bottom of this photo is Petals & Peacock lipstick from M.A.C Liberty of London collection, and it is exactly the same shade as the Florida cremeblend blush.

I am seriously wondering if you could use the cremeblend blush as a lipcolour now.

The left column is from Maybelline Hyper Diamond Eye Palette. The right column is M.A.C Call Me Bubbles quad.

Not all shades from the Maybelline are exactly the same, but I dare say that the two I swatch, which is the eyelid bronze Colour C, and the blending pinkish shade Colour B, are extremely similar.

The bronze Colour C is a tad more brown with more glitter and on less shiny, while the corresponding one in M.A.C is more pink, with less glitter, and higher sheen.

I will rate Colour B is within 1% similarity to the corresponding M.A.C shade, but it has glitter, and the colour payoff is lower.

To be really honest, despite me loving Call Me Bubbles to the max already even though I haven't used it, and many, many reviews saying this is the best, I'd say, you could actually skip it and buy the Maybelline Hyper Diamonds instead! Maybelline's quad is 1/3 the price of M.A.C's.
The following one is a comparison between M.A.C and M.A.C.

Top left is Call Me Bubbles pink, bottom left is Call Me Bubbles Beige, top right is M.A.C Single Eyeshadow in Hot Hot Hot, bottom right is M.A.C Single Shadow in Straw Harvest.

Do check your collection, because really, if you already have Hot Hot Hot, and Straw Harvest (from past collection) in your stash, there is not much point getting Shop & Drop at all!

If you need the last bronze colour, you really only need the Maybelline Hyper Diamonds, because the first highlight colour can be too easily replaced by any of the highlight colours you already have.

In fact, Hot Hot Hot and Straw Harvest have far better quality. M.A.C always seem to compromise their quads and have better eye singles... ...

Only difference is that both Hot Hot Hot and Straw Harvest have sheens, while Call Me Bubbles is on the matte side.

Hot Hot Hot can be intimidating to wear on the eye for some too because it is more red, while the similar shade in Shop & Drop is admittedly more pink.

Alright! This is all!

PS: The Chen Man collection is out too. And one of the tendertones from Shop MAC, Cook MAC is already sold out at Tangs Orchard outlet.

Also, if you are thinking of straight, Runway Red lipstick, the one from Shop MAC, Cook MAC is great, and matte. BUT Maybelline ColourSensational has a straight red that is almost the same except that Maybelline is not matte because of the moisturizing contents. Think carefully because Maybelline's is 1/2 the price of M.A.C.
