My Beauty Brand

Ladybug by Sumberville
My Beauty Brand is the creation of Robin Derrick. The concept is basically a "modern Avon" where you can shop "looks" from brand representatives while getting a 30% discount along with great products and anyone can set up their own "store. The more people use your code, the more money you could make (up to 20% commission). Basically, a win-win situation where you buy great products, show off your creativity via Instagram/online (which y'all probably do anyway), and earn something if peeps use your code. Great right!

*Here's my store link: alison*

I was lucky enough to hear about the brand whilst being on a course (I'll talk about that later) and thought that I'd go outside of my comfort zone and visit the brands' hub to do a look on my friend. The atmosphere was really chill and I managed to do a "natural" look, using most if not all of the eyeshadows there. Don't worry my brush was too soft to make anything show up (which I realise now experimenting with the eye shadows). We also received 2 free products for coming in which I am super grateful for! Once again, thanks so much! Below is the makeup I did on my friend.
My lovely beautiful friend who allowed me to do her makeup (!): First picture - she already has a base/foundation on and slightly filled in eyebrows. Second picture the full face complete with freshly painted nails (I wasn't expecting to do nails but what can I say, she is a Diva -lol -no, she really isn't). The look I went for was "natural, barely-there makeup".
My Beauty Brand is kind of like the anti-influencer brand. It's not about influencers & YouTubers telling you what's good or not from their exclusive access to PR products and promotions. It's all about creativity and an amalgamation of a community where there's no top-down dictatorship. This is makeup for the people and partially owned by the people. If beauty politics ain't your thing - don't worry - the shades are beautiful, colourful, and there is something for everyone. I was literally in makeup heaven looking at all the beautiful and bright products.
Yet, like I said there is more to the brand. I really love the concept of owning one's beauty and being yourself through the creative medium of makeup. It's not about fitting into someone else's idea of "cookie-cutter" beauty or zombie walking with sponsored trends. Whilst I am a blogger, and thus could be seen as an "influencer"  *runs for the hills* in some way - I'd like to think that I'm not trying to shove my opinions down your throat or hyping up crappy products. I try to showcase products how I see them (natural lighting, no fancy editing, and when I do edit i.e, use a filter - I'll say) and I don't think I pretend to be the kindest sweetest person you'll ever meet in your life (because that is, a lie). I'm just one of the many creatives with a passion for makeup, trying to help (a little incy wincy bit).  Enough about me ...
you can already see I've already used this quite a bit ... each product comes with a mirror and a magnetic clasp closure which is easy to open and close (so stylish & practical)
Holly Green (eyeshadow) and Florence Dusty Red (blush) are two very beautiful and bold colours. Holly Green is such a gorgeous inspiring shade that is so unique - it's almost teal. Florence Dusty Red is good for a wide variety of skin tones, and gives an easy rosy hue to the cheeks - a little goes a long way.
Pictures I used on Instagram put in a collage format (Nitchi app - with filter) - Using Holly Green eyeshadow from MyBeautyBrand

Above and below I've shown Holly Green. Above photo edited in an App and below pictures were taken in natural window lighting with the last photo in sunlight (indoors). I've found that the eyeshadow works best with a dense brush, where you can pick up the product and lightly dab, to buildup the intensity. Holly Green looks the same in the pan as it does on my lids which is awesome as sometimes colours on darker skin can not show up the same.

I applied Holly Green to the outer corner of my eye, then working it inwards. I applied some on the inner bottom lash line and then the outer lash line corner, missing the inner part. Lastly, I applied Glossier Lash Slick mascara. I think it's a basic colourful look which doesn't look as scary as many might think.
moving pictures
I really like how Holly Green looks on its own and I am eager to try out more of the eye paints. There's everything from dazzling shimmers to everyday neutrals and then bold bright colours (my thang) plus, there are lip products, highlighters too, and more product to come ... (shhh)
I used Florence Dusty Red blush on my friend for the natural makeup look. It's a universally flattering shade that will work with most skin tones providing you don't over-apply it on very light or dark skin. I really like the dusky pink shade of this blush but, personally, pinks blushes are not shades I naturally gravitate towards. I prefer earthier oranges, rusty reds, and golden shimmers for my skin tone - but, I found this works great on much lighter skin tones well and those with deeper skin - to look flushed from within. Below I've over applied it so it can show up on the camera but, normally the blush wouldn't be so obvious. It's a great addition to my kit and
1st pic - bare cheek with hyperpigmentation marks, 2nd - used Rimmels matte foundation in Mocha as a base, 3rd - applied  My Beauty Brands' blush in
Overall Thoughts: I really like the brand. The products initially look pricey but, with the 30% discount code, the products average out at being near the higher-end price of drugstore products. So, it's very reasonable. Besides, you'll get beautifully packaged products that are not trying to sell you a dream but, allow you and others to express and earn from your own and others' creativity. There's no catch or fee and you can even use your own code (I'm testing it out - tee-hee). I'm eager to see what the brand comes up with next!
